U.S President Invites Buhari, Putin Other World Leaders for Virtual Meeting



The United States President Joe Biden has invited President Muhammadu Buhari, Putin and 38 other world leaders to his first summit on climate change. The virtual summit is slated for next month.

Apart  from Buhari and President Vladimir Putin of Russia, Xi Jinping of China and President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa, South Africa were also invited.

It is gathered that Biden is looking to revive U.S.-convened forum of the world’s major economies on climate that George W. Bush and Barack Obama paid attention. But Immediate past US president Donald Trump may have snubbed the subject.

The growing interest, however,   ensured the US government invited leaders. The list released by the White House on Friday, include Prime Minister Gaston Browne, Antigua and Barbuda, President Alberto Fernandez, Argentina, Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Australia, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh,  and Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, Bhutan. Others are President Jair Bolsonaro, Brazil, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Canada, President Sebastián Piñera, Chile,  President Xi Jinping, People’s Republic of China as well as President Iván Duque Márquez, Colombia.
