Posted by JUSTOURS News                                                                              Sportswoman Blessing Okagbere was expected to lead Nigeria track & field quest for medals in the ongoing 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She is “one of the athletes of Team Nigeria who will begin competing from Friday July 30.”               There are eleven other athletes including Oluwatobi Amusan, Ese Brume, Divine Oduduru, Grace Nwokocha and Chukwuebuka Enewechi. Others are Enoch Adegoke, Usheoritse Itshekiri, Patience Okon-George, Imaobong Uko and Emmanuel Ojeli.                                      But 10 Nigerian athletes were banned from the Games, Wednesday.  Ever since, the Nigeria’s sprint sensation (Okagbare) was said to have repeatedly lambasted sports administrators involved in the power tussle in the last board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) for the ban.
Meanwhile, Nigeria had 10 athletes banned while Belarus (3), Ethiopia (1), Kenya (2), Morocco (1), Ukraine (3), and Bahrain (0).
Nigeria accounted for half of the 20 athletes disqualified by Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) arm of the World Athletics from seven countries on the account of AFN officials unable to understand the application of Rule 15 of AIU which has been in operation in the last three years.     Contact us:
