Ghana Gets New Tourism Minister, Awal

Ghanaian President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Awal Mohammed as the new Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture for that country.

It is gathered that the appointment by the president brings to three the number of ministers appointed under his administration since it came to power on January 7, 2017.

Industry insiders said “At the inception of his administration, Catherine Afeku was appointed the minister for the tourism sector. Catherine Afeku had a short stint at the ministry before she was moved to the presidency as minister of State at the office of the president.

“She was later after replaced by Barbara Oteng Gyasi in 2019.”

Awal is a Ghanaian journalist, marketer, entrepreneur and politician. He also served as CEO of Graphic Communications Group and Chase Petroleum. He is a member of the New Patriotic Party and has served as Minister of Business Development of Ghana since 2017.
