The lead speaker for the upcoming conference on aviation, cargo and exports in Lagos will dissect topic titled the “Role of Insurance in Aviation Business.” Chief Babajide Olatunde-Agbeja who is also the Chairman Boff & Company Insurance Brokers Ltd., will be joined by other stakeholders in the insurance and aviation sub-sectors alongside their cargo and exports counterparts during the 2-day event in Lagos, this month. The first of its kind conference will be taking place at Marriott Hotel, Ikeja from August 25 and 26, 2021.
The organisers of Chinet 21 said the event aims to add value as there have been growing complaints among aviation stakeholders that insurance companies in Nigeria lack the capacity to handle aviation business. Issues include the high premiums paid by Nigerian airlines to foreign insurance companies which keep rising every year because of presumed country risk problems.
They highlighted airlines claim on high cost of insurance which is passed onto the passengers, pointing out that the Nigerian economy is not benefiting from the prevailing system.
Olatunde-Agbeja however is expected to bring his experience that spans over four decades at the highest level of insurance brokerage to the conference. He will be supported by leading insurance companies and their various chief executives. The session on insurance will include question and answers to effectively engage the players in the entire value chain of aviation.
According to the Publisher, ATQ Magazine, Ikechi Uko, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Aviation, Senator Smart Adeyemi and his House of Reps Committee Counterpart Honourable Nnolim Nnaji, are penciled as ‘Special Guests of Honour.’
“With the involvement of more stakeholders who are signing up for the Aviation, Cargo and Export Conference in Nigeria, only registered delegates will be allowed into the venue,” the organisers said, explaining that because of the Covid-19 Protocols in Lagos State all delegates must register and receive their tags before the 10th of August, 2021.
According to the organisers, interested delegates are drawn from airports, NEPC and NEPZA and they will be joining the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and Ethiopian Airlines as major partners of the first Aviation cargo event in Nigeria.
The two leading Aviation Cargo and Logistics companies in Nigeria, NAHCO and SAHCOL, will be major players at this event and supported by airlines, logistics and global financial service companies.
