A Nigerian man Jeffrey Apkovweta Ewohime, 32, destroyed five diplomatic cars in front of Nigerian High Commission in London over delay in passport collection.
The Nigeria High Commission to the United Kingdom (UK) is said to be frustrating Nigerians who want to obtain passport. A Nigerian man, who asked for anonymity, told how he lost his passport while visiting Europe on holiday but faced an ordeal in the hands of staff of the High Commission in London.
He said: “A year ago, my wife was reduced to tears after the High Commission in London frustrated my effort to obtain a travelling document to enable me travel back to Nigeria after I lost my passport in Brussels. I was delayed for weeks and we were unable to travel back home on time.” Adding: “I don’t encourage violence but the Nigerian mission is to be blamed for this kind of reaction.”
Another, a British woman married to a Nigerian man, who gave her name simply as Becky, said she was not surprised this happened. . “I will never forget travelling to London with the girls to get their passports, it was hell! Veryfrustrating and unprofessional.”
