Immigration: Over 4,300 Passports Now Available for Collection After Delays, Crisis

Posted by JUSTOURS                              You don’t usually need to check the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) website to know if your application is ready. Its changing.                              There’s a reprieve for passports applicants as NIS announced that ‘Passports Awaiting Collection’ are ready, thus  passports applicants who were unable to get their passports due to delays can now check with the NIS website.                                                      The Service stated that Nigerians who applied for passports can pick them up. More than 43,000 passports are awaiting collection in Passports offices across the country and Alagbon, Ikoyi, Lagos Passport Office alone which accounts for about 14,000 passports.
Despite the harrowing experiences the applicants may have gone through, some may have missed visa appointments. Its obvious the NIS has beaten its June 1, 2021 deadline to clear backlogs .        About two weeks ago, NIS placed an embargo on capturing and issuing of passports from May 18, 2021 to the end of May to clear backlog. Meanwhile, details of passports collection is uploaded on NIS website with a link to “uncollected passports.” Click on this link
