At last, World’s Largest Single Train Crude Distillation Column Arrives in Lagos

As the year is coming to an end, the world’s largest crude distillation column equipment finally arrived at  Dangote Refinery in Lagos.

Dangote Group described the equipment which berthed in a Ibeju Lekki on Sunday as the biggest single-train facility used for refining crude and it is the primary unit processor of crude oil into fuels. Aliko Dangote, Africa’s wealthiest man is the President, Dangote Group.

The atmospheric tower arrived Lagos after spending 4 months on the sea. The equipment left built by Sinopec in Ningbo, China, on July 29, 2019, and spent about four months following the Maritime Silk Road (a maritime sector that connected China to other parts of the world). Meanwhile, world’s largest single train crude distillation column weighs 2250 MT (excluding internal trays)

112.5 m long

14m wide and;

13.75m tall

It will fractionally distill 650,000 Barrels Per Stream Day.

It is expected that the effort will help to bring fuel importation in Nigeria to an abrupt end and boost electricity generation around its base when fully operational.
